Searching (serchilo.net)
During browsing the Serchilo Homepage and sending a command the following data gets recorded: the access time, requested page, your IP, your user name and your browser's user agent.
- If the command was recognized and you have been redirected to the target URL, only the keyword of the query and the number of arguments get recorded. For example, the query db berlin, hamburg will be recorded as db, 2. The arguments of your search (berlin, hamburg) will not be recorded.
- If the command could not be processed, the whole query string including keyword and arguments gets recorded.
Wiki (wiki.serchilo.net)
Browsing
During browsing the Serchilo Wiki no further data gets recorded in the server log files as usually. In detail the access time, requested page, your IP and your browser's user agent get recorded. These data get internally used by server admins for technical aspects running that web site like identifying errors in the server setup, identifying malicious web spiders or in case of severe abuse of this open web site. These log file data won't be given to third parties unless legally forced to do so by German authorities.
Editing
During editing the web site your edit, edit comment, the time of the edit and your IP or in case you are logged in your nickname will be publically recorded in the history of the edited page. Be aware that especially static IP's can be used by third parties to backtrace you. So if you don't want that please use an account as this does not reveal your IP to others. Every (not deleted) edit of an user account or an IP can be easily looked up by everybody via the "contributions" link displayed on the user page of that person/IP.
User account
Your account preferences are not visible to others. Namely if you did enter an email address there it will not be shown to others unless you contact another person via the internal "email to user" function. As well unless you do answer to such a user-to-user email the writer of the email cannot get your email address.
In case you are logged in your browser needs to keep a browser Cookie in order to signal to the Serchilo Wiki that you are logged in.
Administrators
Administrators (see Special:Listusers, group "Sysop") can perform various special tasks in Serchilo, that all get recorded in the public log files:
- They can write-protect pages in Serchilo in case it is necessary.
- They can delete content in Serchilo. This deleted content however is still visible among the group of administrators and can theoretically be restored by them at any time.
- They can block users and IPs.
Bureaucrats (see Special:Listusers, group "Bureaucrats") can also can grant to or remove administrator rights from user accounts and can rename user accounts. However it is not possible deleting user accounts. As well it is not possible to give you a new temporary password in case you did forget your old one and didn't enter a valid email adress (administrators don't have access to user preferences data).
