[edit] Firefox
There are 3 ways to integrate Serchilo into Firefox:
[edit] Firefox Search Plugin
Firefox has in the upper right corner an input field of the search plugins. As default there is a Google search. To setup Serchilo there you need to:
- go to the Serchilo Homepage
- select your language in the upper right corner
- click on Install the search plugin
After the plugin has been installed, you can switch from Google Search to Serchilo:
- click in the search plugin field on the Google icon.
- choose Serchilo from the list. If you don't find Serchilo, restart Firefox.
Now you can enter all commands in this field. Old commands will be kept in the browser, so you can easily reuse them. You can reach this field with Ctrl-K.
If you have problems installing the plugin you may use the keyword bookmark:
[edit] Keyword Bookmark
- create a bookmark via Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > New Bookmark
- Enter the following values:
Name: Serchilo Location: http://en.serchilo.net/?q=%s Keyword: s
If you prefer another language than English, replace en with another 2-letter language code.
Now you can type all commands in your address bar with a s before:
- s g potato salad (Google search for potato salad)
[edit] In Address Bar
If you type something else than a URL in your address bar, Google's I'm feeling lucky-Search is called with your entered phrase. You can change this to Serchilo:
- in your address bar type about:config
- in the Filter field search for keyword.URL
- right click on the line with keyword.URL
- select modify
- type in this URL
http://en.serchilo.net/?q=
Now you can type Serchilo commands in your address bar. If you prefer another language than English, replace en with another 2-letter language code.
[edit] Internet Explorer 7
If you use Internet Explorer 7, you can add serchilo to the search engines in the upper right search bar. Look for the option add another search engine provider, or visit this URL. At the right side of that page, you can configure your own search engine. Use http://en.serchilo.net/?q=TEST (or http://Username.serchilo.net/?q=TEST) as URL, call it Serchilo and click on install. If no error occured, move to your search engine bar with Ctrl+E and try some serchilo command.
Depending on your security settings, you may have to add http://*.serchilo.net to your trusted sites.
[edit] Safari 3 (and <3?)
- install Inquisitor
- configure Inquisitor via Settings of Safari
- enter Serchilo as standard search engine:
http://de.serchilo.net/?q=%@)
[edit] Seamonkey
If you type something else than a URL in your address bar, Google's I'm feeling lucky-Search is called with your entered phrase. You can change this to Serchilo:
- in your address bar type about:config
- in the Filter field search for keyword
- right click on the line with keyword.URL
- select modify
- type in this URL
http://en.serchilo.net/?q=
- right click on the line keyword.enabled
- select toggle
Now you can type Serchilo commands in your address bar. If you prefer another language than English, replace en with another 2-letter language code.
[edit] Opera 9 (at least)
To add Serchilo to Opera as a search engine, go to preferences (from menu: Tools->Preferences...). Choose the Search tab and click Add. Put in the following information:
Name: Serchilo Address: http://en.serchilo.net/?q=%s
Then you can type a keyword of your choice. I used sl because s was already taken. Also, you can check to use Serchilo as your default search engine and the search engine in the search box at the top of the Speed Dial, if you want.
That's it. Click Ok a few times and you're ready to "command the web" faster.
[edit] Dillo
Open your dillo configuration file ~/.dillo/dillorc and add/change the search_url line to:
search_url="http://en.serchilo.net/?q=%s"
If you don't have a configuration file yet, there's an example at http://www.dillo.org/dillorc. When using dillo, you can open the search window with Ctrl+S.
[edit] Epiphany
[edit] In Address Bar
If you type something else than a URL in your address bar, Google's I'm feeling lucky-Search is called with your entered phrase. You can change this to Serchilo:
- in your address bar type about:config
- in the Filter field search for keyword.URL
- right click on the line with keyword.URL
- select modify
- type in this URL
http://en.serchilo.net/?q=
Now you can type Serchilo commands in your address bar. If you prefer another language than English, replace en with another 2-letter language code.
[edit] OmniWeb
Go to Preferences → Shortcuts, replace first default entry (www.*.com) with the following:
- Name: Serchilo
- Keyword: *
- URL: http://en.serchilo.net/?q=%@
The search box in the toolbar is now superfluos and can be removed. Just hit ⌘+L and type your Serchilo command in the URL bar.
[edit] Mobile devices
[edit] Nokia Internet Tablet
You can add Serchilo to the maemo internet search applet. (This requires root access to your tablet.)
- Resize the Serchilo logo to 30×90 px (or use the favicon instead) and save as /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/qgn_indi_search_serchilo.png
- create the file /usr/share/mis/serchilo-search.xml with:
<search name="Serchilo" icon="/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/qgn_indi_search_serchilo.png" action="http://de.serchilo.net/" user-input="query"> <input name="action" value="command"/> <input name="client" value="ms-nokia-wifi"/> </search>
Then stop and restart the internet search applet.
